let me talk about one of tumblr’s many cyclical issues for a second… (and this isn’t directed at anyone specific, it’s just a general thing i’ve noticed)

i think one of the many issues with tumblr rp is that people run under the assumption that they have to be the one contacted first as opposed to being the one to make first contact to start up an interaction and it just creates a cycle of lack of communication and the idea that someone doesn’t want to rp with you.

there are so many cyclical issues on tumblr. break the cycle guys.

you’d like to thread with someone? TELL THEM.

you like someone’s character? TELL THEM.

you’d like to get to know someone ooc? TELL. THEM.

you’d be surprised how many great things you can spur by just reaching out and making that connection yourself instead of assuming they have to or will come to you. you’d also be surprised how many people whose characters you love, love your character. and you’ll never know unless you reach out.

don’t function as though they have to be the one to contact you first.

it’s okay to reach out, it’s okay to be the one to make first contact, it’s also okay to get rejected as scary as it seems. it’s okay. i promise.

and what’s the worst that could happen if they don’t want to rp with you? they say no thank you, and that’s it. rejection can be hard, but there’s so many other people that are probably more than willing and excited to thread with you.

the more time you waste waiting on people to contact you the less time you spend reaching out and seizing the moment the way you have the potential to do. the more time you waste assuming they will come to you, the more disheartened you may feel about your writing and the more you play into a negative and cyclical issue that has the potential to make both you and another person feel bad or unwanted.
